Your Fan Club shop update

I just added sixteen new designs to Your Fan Club. Most of these were requests, but I have to admit, the potato and garlic pins were mostly for me. I'm attending a garlic festival this weekend and I simply had to make a pin for the occasion.

In honor of Robin Williams, all of the profits from the sale of his fan club pins will be donated to one of his favorite charities, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

The pins are available at Your Fan Club here.

New flapper doodle collar clips

Brand new collar clips at Flapper Doodle. I love the idea of the chain being an important part of the collar clip design (like my telephone clips) and I'm working on more products like this, too.

Cover design for Darkness Descends on Princeton

A few months ago I had the distinct pleasure of designing the book cover for Darkness Descends on Princeton, a 1930's murder mystery by Jeff Jacobs. I finally received a print copy and it looks even better than I could have imagined.

The layout was inspired by 1960s mass market paperbacks with small titles on the front and one stark image to represent the story. Being a native Princetonian, I decided to incorporate the iconic Nassau Hall building and Princeton Tigers stripes and colors for a bold cover, and I had some fun with the dot over the building which could simultaneously serve as a bullet or the moon.

My ties to the book aside, it's a really fine work of literature that I highly recommend. The concept is brilliant, placing all of the familiar faces from 1930's classic movies (Peter Lorre, Edna May Oliver, Charles Coburn, etc.) smack dab into a murder mystery set in 1939 Princeton. There's Nazi intrigue, witty dialogue,  clever repartee, and it's exceptionally well written. I personally hope that it turns into a series so I can continue to follow the adventures of the hero & heroine... and maybe design more book covers too

It's available on Amazon as a paperback and kindle download here.

Your Fan Club shop update

I added 19 new fan club pins to the shop today -- Richard Ayoade isn't new, he's just tagging along at the end because I wanted to have an even amount in the photo. You can find all of the new pins right here. Over 100 pin designs in the shop now! Yay!

I spy a flapper doodle

Melissa from Specs and the City wore my Flapper Doodle telephone collar clips in an incredibly adorable outfit post today! I love the telephone photo at the top, inspired by the clips! So cute!! You can check out the post right here. I'm so honored to have been her first etsy purchase!

Behind the Scenes

Today on Scathingly Brilliant I shared a little bit about my creative process, where I get inspiration and projects that I'm currently working on. ...and this picture of my messy desk! You can check out the post here.

Your Fan Club shop update

I've added some new pins to Your Fan Club the last week or so. And I have another batch of 20 new additions coming sometime next week! I'm really enjoying coming up with new ideas for these -- after the update next week I'll have over 100 pins in the shop to choose from. Pretty exciting!

You can find all of the new additions at Your Fan Club.

Telephone collar clips get a facelift!

I wasn't happy with my previous telephone collar clip design, and retired it from my store earlier this year. The main thing that annoyed me was that the string wouldn't always line up with the cups, which (at least in my opinion) ruined the whole concept of the piece.

Finally last month I came up with this new and improved version -- and I love it! The string always lines up with the cups now, and the design is much more crisp and streamlined. The new collar clip set is available at Flapper Doodle here.

New Flapper Doodle brooches

More new brooches at Flapper Doodle! I might be getting a little carried away with all of the black and white acrylic brooches, but I can't help myself. I really love how they turn out and I think it's nice to add a little bit of functionality to my artwork. I've heard countless times -- whether it's overheard at my art shows or told to me straight out by my grandmom -- people only have so much room on their walls for artwork. But one can never have too many brooches, I always say. :)

They're available at Flapper Doodle here.

My mobile office, featured on the Etsy blog

I recently wrote a blog post for the Etsy blog about my mobile office. I have an office built into the trunk of my Honda Insight, so I can work on the go. You can check out the article right here.
