Postcards from Seattle (and 15% off)

I'm off to Seattle tomorrow, and I decided it was about time that I extended my postcard shop promotion beyond the borders of Walt Disney World! Starting today, if you use the coupon code "SEATTLE" you will receive 15% off and a hand-written postcard from The Emerald City! In order to receive a postcard, your order must be placed on or before March 1st.

This offer only applies in my brand new web store. You'll find all of my Flapper Doodle, Sweet and Lovely, Puns Intended and Your Fan Club products in a one-stop-shop, plus some extra items that aren't available anywhere else. The best part? All US orders of $25+ ship free, even if you're also using a coupon code (like "SEATTLE") Yay!

This discount applies to all orders worldwide, but unfortunately the postcard offer is only good for US orders. All orders will ship as soon as I'm back home. You can still use the code to receive 15% off through March 3rd, but keep in mind that the postcard offer is only good through the 1st.

New brooches & earrings

I just listed some new Puns Intended brooches & Sweet and Lovely earrings in the shop! They're all available under "new" right here.

It's funny, when I get hooked on something I get REALLY hooked on it. When I was little I literally drank nothing but grapefruit juice until I was like 7 or 8, and then I lived on Hershey's chocolate milk boxes until middle school. The same pattern applies to my tv watching habits (I was basically built for binge watching) and, apparently, my art habits as well. Right now I'm clearly in a black-and-white-acrylic-jewelry phase. Almost all of my ideas come in the form of some new jewelry prototype. I'm not complaining, because I really love how all of these turn out and I'm so excited about them! There's something really cool about seeing something you drew on paper turn into a wearable piece of art! That being said, I'm looking forward to the day (hopefully soon) when my brain starts thinking in terms of paintings, drawings and art projects again :)

New Flapper Doodle jewelry

I just added some new Flapper Doodle brooches to the shop! For the longest time I was using a very, very time consuming process to convert my illustrations into laser-cutting files and I just figured out a shortcut that makes it SO much easier. So now I basically want to convert all of my drawings into brooches, haha! For starters, though, I did these five. I really love how the milkshake one turned out, I feel like that'll be a really fun accessory for Valentine's Day next year!

All of the brooches are available in my shop here.

Puns Intended brooches

I thought it would be fun to make some Puns Intended brooches! This is my first batch, I also have a few more coming up soon (like Poecasso) My favorite one is Bae... every time I hear someone say that word I just want to finish it with "thoven!"

All of the new brooches are available in my shop right here.

Valentine's Day printable card

As someone who comes up with ideas for Valentine's Day cards a whopping 5 days before Valentine's Day, I can obviously empathize with people who wait until the last minute to prepare for holidays. If you're one of those people and you're finding yourself card-less with February 14th rapidly approaching, fear not!

My new printables are perfect for making a last-ditch attempt at Valentine's Day look like it took way more time than it actually did. You simply print out the cards (they print 4 per 8.5"x11" sheet of paper) cut them out, and then cut slits at the top and bottom of the hand. This gives you a little opening to slide in a lollipop so it looks like the flapper is holding the stick!

These printables are available to download in my shop, here.

Steve Buscemi earrings

New in the shop! I thought I might start turning some of my favorite drawings that I did for Your Fan Club into earrings, starting with Mr. Steve Buscemi. These are laser cut from black and white acrylic and have post-backs. Available in my shop here.

Valentine's Day cutoff date

If you'd like your order to arrive by Valentine's Day, my cutoff date is this Friday, Feb. 6th. I ship from New Jersey so if you're on the east coast you could probably squeeze in orders until Monday/Tuesday, but with all of the crazy weather we've been having I'd want to be on the safe side.

My Time Machine to the 90's valentine packs are available here and I also have lots of Valentine's Day cards, and last minute printables at Flapper Doodle here.

The Princess and The Pea

It's been almost a year since my last installment in my Flapper Doodle fairy tale series, but I've sketched out my basic ideas for almost all of the remaining illustrations now, and it's just a matter of fleshing them out & tidying them up! The newest drawing in the series is The Princess and the Pea. I've been smitten with this particular tale for a really long time, mostly because I just really love how mattresses look when they're piled way high. I'm equally smitten with those bedding displays at department stores, with the shortened beds that are stacked super tall with layer upon layer of bedding, but a fairy tale is much more fun to draw.

I was originally going to have wallpaper behind the bed with a subtle pea pod design, but I liked this so much that I decided to just draw the wallpaper on tracing paper and layer it on top, rather than commit to drawing on (and possibly ruining) my illustration. It's one of those instances where an idea seems great until I actually execute it. With the wallpaper it was just too busy, and (even though I still think pea pod wallpaper would have been awesome) I'm really glad I didn't mess around with this drawing.

Anyway -- the original is available in my store, here, as well as prints, here.
